Knee Painful

Knee joint is the most used joint and hence the most vulnerable to the injuries. It consists of bones, cartilages and tendons which help in the smooth movement of the leg. It is a connecting point of the femur that is the thigh bone and the tibia that is the lower leg bone. It helps not only in the movement of the body but also bears the weight of the body. As the knee is under constant pressure throughout our lives it is clear that it renders our knee painful. This should be one of the major concerns that with everything else in life our knees also get the due attention to prevent it from getting damaged.
There may be many reasons which contribute in making our knee painful. These could be injuries, diseases or any mechanical problems that affect knees. Knee pain can affect the mobility and causes difficulty even when we try to bend our knees. Women are more susceptible to such painful knees after their pregnancy because during pregnancy the weight of the body increases and thus knee are affected. Overuse of the knee joint also leave the knee hurt as it faces more strain than the normal as in the case of athletes.

Another cause is joint effusion which is also called water on the knee. It occurs normally after an injury to the knee rendering the knee painful. Arthritis which affects the cartilage and results in swelling of the joint is one of the common causes of knee pain. Meniscal tear which is common in young athletes. Knees may get lock due to some mechanical problem. Other causes may be a severe injury which results in damage of the joint bones or muscles. Sometimes an overgrowth or a lump of bone can also cause acute knee pain.
Knee painful can be treated with physiotherapy which helps in reducing the pain. It may include the application of ice on the knee, keeping the knee at an elevated position. All the activities which put the knee under strain should be stopped till the knee is treated for the pain. After the knee has been treated it is important that precautions are taken to prevent the situation to occur again. Knee strengthening exercises should be done. Knee braces or straps should be used always.
Apart from the treatments it is necessary to bring some changes in the lifestyle whether affected or not affected by the painful knee conditions. Knee problems may result in such acute pain that even a slight touch would not be tolerated. It is essential that we are aware of the symptoms that could give rise to major knee problems and render our knee painful. Knees bear the body weight hence if the weight is kept under control knee pain could be prevented. Intake of nutritious and fibrous food also helps in preventing knee pains.
