Pain Side of Knee

Knees are the most important and the most used joint of our body. Almost all our daily chores require the use of knee from getting out of the bed to getting in again after a long day of work. Since the usage is much the wear and tear is also on a higher side. Off late it has become a common trend of having a knee pain whether it is due to arthritis or due to some other reason. Pain, side of knee has always been a problem for an athlete or for a person whose profession requires exerting pressure on his knees. Even for people who just sit in front of their computers it is emerging as a problem.
The common cause of the pain side of knee is the iliotibial band syndrome. This is frequent with athletes. The iliotibial band in a knee joint is a ligament which joins the pelvic bone through the thigh bone to the lower leg. Mostly this syndrome is aggravated with wrong training habits which eventually take its toll. It should be carefully taken care of by ensuring that the trainer is an expert and performing some warm up exercises before the main activity.
Other causes which lead to pain side of knee are obesity, arthritis, bursitis, dislocation of the knee cap, etc. These causes appear with age when the body gets depleted of its salts. Joints are affected first because when the primary sources starts getting depleted they take a kind of debt of these salts from the joints so eventually it affects the joints first. As a result the free and smooth movement of the joints is obstructed and the bones get damaged.
The pain side of knee could be very acute. Sometimes knee also gets pain which is known as referred pain. In this case the origin of the pain is some other place but the knee feels the pain because of the nerve which connects the knee with the pain location, may be foot or pelvic area. Most of the activities get limited with the pain in the knee, when sitting cross the pain could rise in intensity. There is a burning sensation in the knee with pain which makes it more difficult for a person with knee pain to carry on with the daily activities.
It is important to treat the knee pain. Whenever there is a pain side of knee which is stabbing and is limiting you in your daily activities it is always advisable to visit a doctor. Any knee pain can turn injurious. There are a number of medications present which will help in reducing the pain. Physiotherapy is considered to be the best responding medication for knee pain. Apart from it there are other alternative methods available which reduces the knee pain. This could be herbal therapy, cryo therapy, etc. Doctors recommend that with little precautions we can protect our knee from getting damaged. Proper and nutritious diet also helps in curing the knee pain.
